Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) for Decentralized Grey Water Treatment: Technical, Ecological and Cost Efficiency Comparison for Domestic Applications

نویسندگان

چکیده

The reuse of greywater has several advantages, including reduced freshwater extraction from rivers, aquifers, and groundwater; need for desalination; less environmental impact septic tanks water treatment plants; decreased energy consumption; chemical pollution. main objectives this review study are to assess the technical attributes, ecological impacts, cost-efficiency Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology compared similar available small medium-sized, decentralized applications in residential commercial settings such as home gardening, sanitation, landfills. Previous studies indicate that hybrid technologies MBBR most promising methods total removal contaminants wastewater a setting. However, initial capital cost medium-scale domestic worldwide is high so limiting factor expansion its utilization. Expansion use Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems (DWTS) could increase economies scale therefore reduce costs useful treatment. For system, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) efficiency was found be 70%, Total Suspended Solids (TSS) 97%, turbidity 98%

Utilizing algal oxygen production for advanced wastewater treatment in a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) – the Biologically Aerated Reactor (BAR

A novel wastewater treatment system has been developed, utilizing an oxygen-rich algal liquid to supply oxygen to an aerobic biofilm reactor. Aerobic treatment of wastewater takes place in a Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor, where the aerobic biomass which breaks down organic and nitrogenous pollutants grows as a biofilm on floating carriers. Algae grown in an open raceway pond produce oxygen through...

The Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor

A new biofilm reactor for wastewater treatment, the moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), is discussed. A general description of the reactor is given. Results from investigations of different applications (carbonaceous removal, nitrification and nitrogen removal) when used for municipal wastewater treatment, are discussed. Design values are given and it is demonstrated that use of this reactor res...

Tracking particle size distributions in a moving bed biofilm membrane reactor for treatment of municipal wastewater.

A study has been conducted to investigate the effect of loading rates on membrane fouling in a moving bed biofilm membrane reactor process for municipal wastewater treatment, especially analysing the fate of submicron colloidal particles and their influence on membrane fouling. Two operating conditions defined as low and high organic loading rates were tested where the development and fate of t...
